2 Braintree officers shot dead, suspect killed in shooting – Boston 25 News
BRAINTREE, Massachusetts – Two sources told Boston 25 News that two police officers and a K-9 were shot dead in Braintree.
Sources told Boston 25 News that a K-9 police officer and another officer were shot and killed on Friday afternoon. Sources tell us that the K-9 policeman who was shot has died.
We also learned that the suspect was shot and, according to sources, Boston 25 News, is deceased.
One policeman was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth while another was taken to Boston Medical Center; there have been no updates on their terms yet. We understand from a neighbor that an officer was able to walk to an ambulance. The second officer had to be transported on a stretcher.
We learned that the shooting started as police were looking for this suspect who had fled into the woods, that’s when the police chased the suspect. The town of Braintree said the shooting took place as police responded to a domestic incident in the area.
Sources told Boston 25 News reporter Ted Daniel that Home Incident Police were responding to a call from a woman claiming a man had pointed a gun at her.
This suspect then fled to the nearby woods after the shooting, where he was later apprehended. The DA and Massachusetts State Police are investigating, the city added.
A neighbor said she heard the train door bells for the nearby commuter train, and this was quickly followed by a dozen gunshots.
A man who lives in the complex and was walking his dog also heard gunshots. Then, he said, the police raided the neighborhood.
“I heard gunshots and all kinds of police came into the neighborhood,” said Luis Rivera, who lives in the building. “We have Braintree, we have State Troopers, we have detectives, all kinds of agencies in this complex here.”
The incident impacted travel on the MBTA.
