Alan Shearer names ‘outstanding’ Aston Villa star to Premier League squad of the season

Alan Shearer has named Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to his Premier League squad of the season.
The expert and former Newcastle United striker chose the Villa stopper over Manchester City’s Ederson and Liverpool’s Allison.
Martinez, who has had a terrific season since arriving at Villa Park from Arsenal, is the only player outside of the so-called top six ‘big six’ to be selected by Shearer.
“An exceptional signature for Aston Villa, Martinez has made some wonderful saves this season on his way to 15 Clean Sheets, âsaid Shearer, the Premier League’s first Hall of Fame inductee.
Shearer chose Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, Ribbon Dias and Luke Shaw in his back four.
Bruno Ferdandes, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan are his three chosen midfielders with Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Phil Foden in attack.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is Shearer’s manager of the season, saying: “A third title in four seasons is a formidable achievement as his team strike the right balance between defense and attack.”
