Andros Townsend says he’s really gutted for an Aston Villa player

Speaking on the ITV football show podcast, Andros Townsend has expressed his sympathy for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins after being excluded from the England squad.
Gareth Southgate had a number of big decisions to make this week as he had to reduce his squad size from 33 to 26, and sadly one of the players who must have missed was Watkins.
What was said?
Townsend was talking about the England squad and he says he feels very sorry for Watkins after being left out of the last 26.
âWe haven’t talked about Ollie Watkins, I’m a little sorry for him. He’s unlike any other striker out there. He runs behind for fun, which is a dream for a midfielder. He’s pushing forward, he can’t stop running, he’s got the right attitude and he can score a goal, âsaid Townsend.

The most unlucky of the group
There hasn’t been a lot of shock when it comes to the players who have been left out of the squad, but Watkins has to be considered the unluckiest of the group.
England have only taken two recognized nines at the Euro, and when you consider the fact that they have taken on four right-backs, it’s easy to question Southgate’s decision here.
Watkins has every reason to be upset by this decision, but there’s not much he can do about it now, so he has to work hard and make sure he’s on the World Cup squad. ‘next year.
