Anyone remember what “floats” here?
It’s just the Hudson River, right? Wrong!
Over the course of many years in the Hudson Valley, many businesses have followed one another. If you drive on one of the main roads in the area, you will notice that many businesses are different today than they were then.
Unfortunately, some places are empty today, like the building we told you about a few weeks ago in Poughkeepsie, which after hundreds of comments and posts was supposed to be a great deli at the time, is now closed and vacant. Hopefully one day it will reopen like something … fingers crossed!
Another place that has come and gone was suggested to us by a Wakin ‘Up fan with CJ and Jess Show. Becky put this picture on me and asked if I remembered what was here? His first clue was that it was off the Newburgh waterfront. Looked…..
Could it be !! YES..That’s where Gully used to be, isn’t it? I can’t tell from her photo, but is Gully still floating or is she gone? If you have no idea what Gully is, this is a place where a lot of people reading this right now have spent a lot of time throughout the day. It was one of the only floating restaurants and nightclubs in the Hudson Valley. Now it was no longer a boat, more like a barge, converted into a restaurant / bar and if you’ve spent any time there you probably have a story. Most people do … LOL!
Never spent time there as I was always up the river in Front Streets before it turned into Billy Joe’s but from what friends tell me it was a experience like no other. If you’ve been partying at Gully’s before and actually remember the night, we’d love to hear your story. Give us a call or text us through the Wolf app or leave us a comment below.
