Aston Villa face a huge blow for one of their promising players this summer…

What is the word?

18-year-old starlet Carney Chukwuemeka is nowhere near extending his stay at Villa Park, having recently rejected a new contract offer from the club, and with him now entering the final 12 months of his current deal, the Midlands outfit has a decision to make.

“It will be a huge loss for them because I think a lot of people at Villa saw Chukwuemeka as a key part of the Villa team for years to come,” journalist Pete O’Rourke told Football FanCast.

“It will be a blow to lose him and it doesn’t look like they are any closer to getting a deal done so Chukwuemeka might even stay and see his contract and leave for free unless Villa decide to cash in on him this summer. .”

Should Villa sell Chukwuemeka this summer?

YES!

NOPE!

NOPE!

Gerard will not be happy

Villa are now set to lose millions in potential transfer fees as the young midfielder is likely to see his contract out before moving to new pastures, with the likes of Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Manchester City all interested in his signature.

Steven Gerrard won’t be the happiest either as he’ll lose a top talent who could lift his team for the next generation, nor will he want a player who doesn’t want to be there to stick around.

Chukwuemeka is believed to be sold for around £20m should a suitable offer come in, while some reports suggest the teenager is demanding a whopping £100,000 a week which would make him his second highest paid player behind Danny ings (£120k per week).

Something is wrong if an academy talent wins more than the likes of Ollie Watkins, new skipper John McGinn and vice-captain Emi Martinez, so it’s no wonder Villa are sticking to their bid.

Speaking about the gem of Bodymoor Heath last season, Gerrard told reporters (via Express & Star):

“I hope he will be a great player for Aston Villa,” he said. “We want him to stay here long term. We believe this is the best place for Carney. I hope that the situation will evolve in a positive way.

But as O’Rourke suggests, that now seems unlikely with Villa facing a huge blow to their future, and as such the former Rangers boss is sure to be furious at the situation, just weeks before the start. of the new Premier League campaign. .
