ASTON VILLA are the latest club to keep tabs on Bristol City starlet Reuben McAllister.

Steven Gerrard’s Clarets have joined a growing list of admirers who currently follow the 16-year-old attacking midfielder.

Newcastle United, Rangers and Celtic are already monitoring McAllister, who is the son of former Scotland international Jamie McAllister.

The former Aberdeen, Livingston and Hearts full-back became a fan favorite at Bristol City before becoming Johnson’s assistant manager at Ashton Gate.

He recently returned to Scotland to become Johnson’s number 2 at Hibernian.

However, his son Reuben remained at Bristol City where he made rapid progress rapidly through the Robins youth ranks.

McAllister junior made his Under-23 debut for Robins against Queen’s Park Rangers last October aged 15, and since then Premier League scouts have been flocking to Bristol.

Gerrard is the latest Premier boss to be alerted to McAllister’s talent, but faces fierce competition from big clubs on both sides of the border.

Gerrard is keen to push ahead with Villa’s investment in their youth structure and shelled out £350,000 to land Rangers super kid Rory Wilson earlier this week.

Wilson, 16, scored 49 goals in all competitions at youth level last season and the fee could be as high as £1million depending on appearances and international caps.

Rangers will also receive 10% of all future transfer fees for the teenager, who also scored eight goals in 11 Scotland Under-17 appearances.

And McAllister is the latest teenage talent to appear on his radar and he is ready to take on his rivals for the youngster who qualifies to represent both Scotland and England.
