Aston Villa: Konsa’s eye by Arsenal

Aston Villa have seen many players come and go from the club since returning to the Premier League at the end of the 2018/19 season.
Some of these players have joined or moved to other English teams, such as Jack Grealish who joined Manchester City in the previous summer transfer window in a record deal.
Looking ahead to the next summer window, it looks like the Midlands club could be looking to bring out another of their players, with another English club apparently waiting in the wings to pounce.
What are the news?
According to a recent transfer report from Football Insider, fellow Premier League side Arsenal are aiming to make a summer move for Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
According to their sources, Villa boss Steven Gerrard has told Konsa’s agent that he is ready to listen to offers for the centre-back this summer.
Fans will fume
The Midlands signed the Englishman in the 2019 summer transfer from Brentford in a deal worth £12million and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Midlands side end up turning a profit on him.
Since then he has made 94 appearances for the Villans in all competitions, registering six goals and two assists along the way.
However, that doesn’t necessarily make him a good idea. In fact, it would be rather confusing on Gerrard’s part given the comments from just three days ago.
He said: “He’s been exceptional for me, obviously the red card [against Leeds] was frustrating for him and for us because he is an important player.
“His level of consistency has been very high, both on the training ground and in a match situation.
“So I’m delighted to have him back and he was a big factor in the clean sheet last week.”
Would you be happy to see Villa sell Konsa this summer?
Yes

No

Therefore, the £22.5million valued figure that has been dubbed ‘crazy’ is clearly hugely significant and the very fact that he’s featured on 24 occasions and for over 2,000 minutes this season speaks volumes.
Considering all this, if the Villa hierarchy did indeed sell the defender this summer, it would surely leave the fans rather angry.
