Aston Villa rivals Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of EFL teenager transfer
Northampton Town forward Caleb Chukwuemeka could be set to team up with younger brother Carney as Aston Villa join the race for his signing, according to Football Insider.
The 19-year-old’s contract with the Cobblers expires in January and Tottenham Hotspur is believed to have used his services recently.
According to Football Insider, Spurs have offered a £ 1million deal along with the services of young striker Kion Etete, who has now joined the League Two side on loan.
But now Villa is said to have entered the teenager’s signing race and try to beat Spurs in this particular transfer battle.
Chukwuemeka played 22 times for Northampton in League One last season, mostly on the bench and he scored his first league goal in October 2020 against Wigan Athletic.

If Villa were to make a deal for the forward, he would be reunited with his 17-year-old brother Carney, who made his Premier League debut in May against Tottenham Hotspur and was also on the books at Northampton until he make the move to Villa in 2016.
Many clubs have sought out Chukwuemeka since his Northampton debut, and although he has only scored one league goal in his career so far, he definitely has some promising attributes.
There is raw talent there that can be developed and the shoemakers may now have to accept an offer, otherwise they risk losing him on the cheap in January when his youth contract expires – and then they will only receive ‘minimum compensation.
He’s still clearly a part of Jon Brady’s plans given he was on the bench for the season opener against Port Vale, but the seven-figure offers could be too big for the club to turn down.
