Aston Villa signs new deal as Maguire shares intriguing preview
There is little risk that Aston Villa will be forced to drop its gaming sponsorships anytime soon.
That’s what finance guru Kieran Maguire says, speaking exclusively to Football initiate after Villa announced a deal with Parimatch on September 13.
Everton, Brighton, Southampton, Leicester and Chelsea have all recently signed partnerships with the online bookmaker.
The government is currently reviewing betting sponsorship laws and independent reviews have come up with the idea of an outright ban.
But Maguire predicts that the high-ranking friends of gambling brands mean they’ll weather the storm.
“The two camps, for and against the game in football, are very rooted”, he said Football initiate correspondent Adam Williams.
“The gaming industry is fiercely lobbying the government to tell it that it has put its house in order.
“The insidious way the gaming industry sets a rule and then works out a solution is very obvious.
“So yes there are no more whistle-to-whistle advertisements. But you also see that the matches are sponsored by Bet365.
“TalkSPORT also gives the ratings as part of the commentary. It’s all part of normalizing the game.
“This is something that the industry is very keen to promote, even if it is forced to withdraw in certain areas.
“But you have seen the number of deputies who have drunk and dined at the Euro. They have the ears of some of those who make the decisions.
