AVFC’s El Ghazi touted for summer outing
Aston Villa have seen many players move in and out of the club on permanent deals or on loan over the past few years.
Looking ahead to the upcoming summer transfer window, it looks like the Villans could finally cut ties with one of their current outcasts.
What are the news?
According to a recent report from Football Insider, Everton have no intention of signing Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi on a permanent deal when his current loan spell at Goodison Park expires this summer.
Moreover, the Villans are reportedly looking to cash in on the Dutchman rather than keep him in their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Villa initially signed the winger on loan from French club Lille in the 2018 summer transfer window before eventually securing him on a permanent deal a year later for £8m.
Ax El Ghazi definitely
During his time at Villa Park, the 26-year-old made 119 appearances in all competitions but only managed to score 26 goals and provide 16 assists along the way.
Back in the previous January transfer window, having made just three league appearances for Villa since Steven Gerrard’s appointment in November, the winger joined Everton on loan until the end of the season.
Unfortunately for the player, who has been described as a “nightmare” to play against on the training ground by Alan Hutton, he has found playing time with the Toffees just as hard to come by as at Villa under Gerrard.
With a total of 11 Premier League minutes to his name in an Everton shirt, it’s easy to see why the Merseyside club are in no rush to sign El Ghazi on a permanent basis this summer.
Should Villa cash in on El Ghazi this summer?
Given his lack of minutes, it’s understandable his move to Goodison Park was branded a “bad deal” for the Toffees by former keeper Paddy Kenny.
Given his inability to break into a side fighting for their lives to stay in the Premier League, it’s also not particularly surprising that Villa and Gerrard are finally looking to cut ties with the £38,000 winger. per week at the end of the season.
