‘Chilling’ – Police convict Aston Villa apprentice footballer who raped stranger he followed on the bus
Police convicted a former Aston Villa apprentice footballer who followed a woman off a bus before raping her in a “brutal” attack, calling his actions “frightening”.
Khadim Drame was 18 when he followed the woman, who was in her forties, as she returned home from her boyfriend’s house.
He told the victim she was “pretty and sexy” after following her for over a mile from the bus stop at Aston Lane, Birmingham Crown Court has learned.
When she reprimanded her advances, the teenager “waved a bundle of money” at her before raping her in a grassy area of Witton Lane, behind Villa Park.

Drama, from Norris Road, Aston, now 20, also threatened to kill during the petrifying ordeal on March 15 last year.
Now West Midlands Police have denounced the attack, while praising the victim’s bravery.
Sergeant Louise Wooff said: “This savage attack had a devastating impact on the victim.
“The fact that Drama saw her on the bus and followed her shows a frightening amount of premeditation.
“I congratulate his bravery and hope that Drama’s confession and sentence will give him a certain sense of justice.”
After the attack, the distraught woman returned home and immediately called the police.
Police examined CCTV which clearly showed the woman Drame approached and his efforts to dismiss and avoid him.
Officers traced the footage to where she got off a bus and then studied the bus’s camera footage, which showed Drama had been a passenger on the bus with friends before her attack.
CCTV follow-up showed the former footballer on his way home to Norris Road after the attack, where he was arrested five days later.
In May, Drama pleaded guilty to rape and was sentenced yesterday (July 8) to seven and a half years in prison, with an additional three years under license.
He will have to serve two-thirds of that sentence before he can apply for parole.
He will also be listed for life on the sex offender registry.
