Electric Pizza Selling Pizza & Chicken at Central & Tyler

There is new life in the old Pizza Hut building in Central and Tyler.
The building at 8977 W. Central in Wichita housed Pizza Hut since at least the mid-1970s. But about six months ago, this Pizza Hut moved to a mall at 737 N. Maize Road.
Now there’s a new pizza tenant in the building near Central and Tyler that’s being sandwiched by Starbucks on one side and Taco Bell on the other. But it serves more than pizza.
Last week Joseph Fowler and his wife Jacqueline opened a new location of their Electric pizzeria in the space. And while they still sell the pizzas their customers ordered since the couple opened their first pizzeria in Derby in 2018, the new location also serves as a place to get fried chicken fillets and sandwiches.
The Fowlers, who also still have the electric pizzeria they opened at 240 S. West Street in February 2019, have a unique new setup in the old Pizza Hut space, which has a drive-through window and a hood in the kitchen, which allows them to also serve fried foods.
Customers at the new restaurant can not only order pizza, which has a thin New York-style crust in the middle with a thick rim, but they can now also order chicken fillets, chicken sandwiches, tater tots and fries. Joseph Fowler also has a name for the chicken side of the business: Tenders.
Customers can order both chicken and pizza menus for take out, dinner, or delivery anytime the restaurant is open. They can also get the chicken menu anytime at the drive-thru window. And the Fowlers also offer four styles of hot, ready-to-drive pizzas from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. These do not need to be ordered in advance and drive-thru customers can choose between cheese, pepperoni, MOB pizza (mushrooms, onions and black olives) or MOB pizza with Italian sausage. House.
For now, the Fowlers’ original Wichita restaurant at West Street (the front door faces Maple) only offers take out pizza. Their deliveries will be based on the new Central and Tyler store, and they will deliver anywhere within a six mile radius of this address.
They decided to take over the old Pizza Hut space, said Joseph Fowler, after noticing that 80% of their West Street delivery orders came from zip codes west of their restaurant.
âPositioning ourselves here makes a lot more sense,â he said.
The couple no longer have their Derby restaurant, which closed after a fire in 2019.
The hours of operation for Central and Tyler’s new restaurant are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
