F1 News: Jamie Chadwick’s next step after the W series – F1 Briefings
Jamie Chadwick won her third W Series championship, proving again that she is the undisputed class of the peloton.
The 24-year-old’s career has stalled somewhat in recent years, with Chadwick failing to move up the feeder series ranks following her various W-series triumphs.
Despite being part of the Williams academy, Jamie Chadwick looks unlikely to enter Formula 2 or Formula 3 next season – although the Briton has found another route to advance his career.
In a interview with Sky F1, she explained the opportunities available in the United States. IndyCar’s power series, IndyLights, looks its likeliest next step in 2023.
Chadwick has already tested with Andretti earlier in the season and will almost certainly benefit from stepping away from the W series:
“Nothing is confirmed yet, but I did the test with the Andretti team, and it was great. I really enjoyed driving the car, and I really enjoyed working with the team.

“I think the Indy Lights road, IndyCar – I think the road to Indy is called – is really cool for young drivers.
“It’s a big opportunity there. It looks interesting, but nothing confirmed yet.
“But it’s good now to be in a position where I’m really positively looking at those options for the future. Nothing confirmed, but I’m really looking forward to trying to put things together for next year. .”
Many would say that Chadwick has already competed in more competitive categories than the W Series, having raced against Pietro Fittipaldi and Jack Doohan in the F3 Asia Championship.
While F1 is certainly out of the question until it gets an opportunity in F2 or F3, it seems perfectly realistic that it could step up to IndyCar as it begins its next chapter in the United States.
Chadwick’s ambitions to join F1 are still a long way off, but it looks like his career is finally moving forward.
