Journalist highlights Aston Villa’s thinking with Buendia
Emiliano Buendia is not replacing Jack Grealish, says Luke Hatfield, Aston Villa reporter.
Villa signed Argentina winger from Norwich City last month in a deal that would be worth £ 40million, club record fees.
Given that, you might forgive fans for wondering if he was bought to replace Grealish.
Is Buendia worth £ 40million?
The Villa captain has been linked with an estrangement from the Midlands club for some time now, with Air sports signaling that Manchester City is preparing an offer.
However, according to Hatfield, this is not the case. Instead, Buendia was brought in to complete Grealish.
“It’s interesting and a lot of fans kind of put two and two together with that,” the Express & Star the reporter said while discussing Buendia and Grealish in a conversation with FFC.
“The arrival of Buendia obviously plays a similar position, although on the right as opposed to Grealish who plays on the left. Villa is part of the camp he was brought into to be an addition to Jack Grealish and not a replacement.
It will be a relief for Villa fans, who won’t want to see their chief creator, who provided 10 assists in the Premier League last season, leaving this summer.
Of course, a lot could still happen before the transfer window closes, especially with Manchester City sniffing. But the signs are that the Villans want to build around Grealish rather than selling him for big bucks.
