Latest Celtic news: the deal with Eddie Howe is now over

Celtic are in advanced talks with another candidate after their decision to appoint Eddie Howe collapses, according to The daily mail.

What is the latest Celtic news?

The club’s pursuit of Howe has been a long and long saga. Indeed, the former Bournemouth boss initially convinced the club’s board of its long-term vision during talks in April, but then began talks with Crystal Palace.

When those talks with London broke Howe seemed ready for Celtic then, but the report claims the move is now complete.

Indeed, the makeup of his coaching staff, as well as the prospect of bringing former Scotland international Richard Hughes to Glasgow, were said to have been issues that led to the deal breaking down.

Who could be Celtic’s next manager?

GIVEMESPORT understands that the interim coach remains a candidate if an external appointment cannot be made, although the Mail report brings up some interesting names.

They claim ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre as well as club legend Paul Lambert are possibilities and Celtic hope to make a date ahead of the 2021/22 season.

How bad is that?

Obviously, the fact that Celtic are not hitting their number one target is not ideal.

Still, given how long it took for Howe to decide whether or not to take the job, perhaps there is an argument to suggest the club might be in a better position to nominate a manager who wants actually the role without making great demands.

That’s no problem for Howe, who would be foolish not to give himself the best environment to succeed, but Celtic don’t have long until the new season starts and bow to someone with no experience. Scottish football could be a risk. .

While it is certainly an eye-catching fixture, it is clear that the club does not feel comfortable enough to completely change the makeup of the management team.

What did John Hartson say about Celtic’s pursuit of Howe?

Speaking on the Go Radio football show (via The daily record) earlier this week, former Celtic star John Hartson urged the club to make a decision on both cases soon.

“They had people in place and were able to put people around them, the board was happy with the decisions they made, right now there is so much work to be done on all of them. fronts, ”he said.

“They still don’t have a manager. Maybe they have one, maybe he signed a contract that I don’t know, but it got a little complicated.

“Everyone just wants some clarity.”
