LoveRaw, one of the leading vegan chocolate brands, described its struggles to be successful in a recent interview.
The couple behind the business started off with just £ 600 in one of their parents’ garages and even declined an offer from Dragon’s Den.
In an interview with Manchester Evening News, Rimi and Manav Tharpar described how they started their business from a small garage in the north of England.
“There was a sink, a few cupboards and a window facing the garage – that was it. It allowed me to start making our products at home ‘, Rimi mentionned.
Today the duo employ 16 people and sell a range of products including chocolate butter cups, M: Lk chocolate bars and Cre & m filled wafer bars.
From fights to success
An “extremely difficult” semester allowed LoveRaw to grow and start producing products in factories.
As a result of COVID-19, the brand has been affected like many other companies.
Manav added: “We had to put people on leave because some areas of the business died completely… We just tried to find enough work but it was very difficult.”
They’ve gone it alone since turning down an offer on the iconic commercial program, Dragon’s Den.
Vegan chocolate brand
The brand’s mission is to continue making “legendary” vegan chocolate without artificial “nonsense”.
They have been able to grow since moving the business online.
The duo said: “Online it’s really strong, and it’s getting bigger and bigger – we’re going to have a fantastic year. “
Additionally, LowRaw products are available from Ocado, Boots, Coop, Holland & Barrett, among others.
