Ralf Rangnick will lead his first Champions League game as interim Manchester United manager when his side host Young Boys at Old Trafford tonight.
United have already qualified for the last 16 as Group F winners and Rangnick could name a brand new squad.
Rangnick confirmed on Tuesday that Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek will take the start while Nemanja Matic will be the team captain. He also pointed out that other first-team players need minutes with Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also expected to feature.
Several of Manchester United’s young players are set to get their first taste of European football tonight with Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage among those vying to make the bench.
Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani, however, are not yet set to feature. Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba are absent while Phil Jones is ineligible for the group stages of the competition.
As for the Young Boys, captain Fabian Lustenberger returns from a serious Achilles problem but Ulisses Garcia is absent until January due to a calf injury. Goalkeeper David von Ballmoos, Christian Fassnacht, Felix Mambibi, Jean-Pierre Nsame and Cedric Zesiger are also reportedly absent from the squad.
