Menna’s Joint latest victim of Mt. Pleasant restaurant carnage – The Morning Sun

For weeks, rumors swirled about the future of the place, which for years billed itself as “the only legal joint in town.”
A sign hanging in the window of Menna’s Joint, 1418 S. Mission St., confirms that the package called The Dub is no longer available. Menna’s Joint closed at the end of 2021.
When it’s gone, it seems like it didn’t go away on its own. Calls to the other two locations mentioned on Menna’s Facebook page – one in Kalamazoo and one in Grand Rapids – were both greeted with “The number you are trying to reach has been disconnected” messages.
The website link now goes to a landing page hosted by Wix, the free service used to build websites.
This is the Lansing location, the first, closed in 2019.
Menna’s had been in business for more than a decade, catering to a decidedly younger customer base with its late delivery times and marketing materials referencing marijuana use. The logo depicted a man with long, curly hair and wearing sunglasses.
The Dub, his signature sandwich, was a wrap that came in several different options, from tropical themed to loaded with everything, including potatoes.
Menna’s joins a long list of restaurants that have closed in recent years, including Mt. Pleasant stalwarts like Big Boy, Italian Oven, and Pizza Hut. His primary clientele were students at Central Michigan University, and his demise comes as college enrollment continues to decline.
