Moscow imposes a ban on Harris and Zuckerberg
Russia has banned Vice President Kamala Harris, other top US officials, CEOs and journalists from entering the country, citing the growing list of anti-Russian sanctions under the Biden administration.
The Kremlin’s latest round of travel restrictions affect 29 people, and the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday the measures could be extended.
The State Department said it also sanctioned Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, State Department spokesman Ned Price, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Bank of America Corp chief executive. Brian Moynihan.
The list also includes Bianna Golodryga, senior global affairs analyst at CNN, and Kevin Rothrock, editor of the English version of the media outlet Meduza.
The Foreign Office said in a separate statement that it was banning 61 Canadian citizens from entering Russia, citing discriminatory actions Ottawa allegedly took against Moscow.
The Canadian list includes Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and Toronto Mayor John Tory.
Moscow had previously banned President Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from entering Russia.
