Mumbai News Updates: City Reports 733 New COVID-19 Cases

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday issued a high alert for all authorities in Mumbai due to the very heavy rainfall expected in the city on June 13 and 14. City Commissioner Iqbal Chahal told TOI on Friday that Mumbai will continue to remain under Level 3 restrictions next week. Chahal said Mumbai will remain under Level 3 restrictions until Covid cases drop to around 100-200 per day. With the addition of 696 new cases of coronavirus, the number of infections in Mumbai rose to 7,15,146. The death toll in the financial center rose to 15,146 after another 24 patients succumbed to the infection, showed BMC data. The town of Thane continues to stay at Tier 2 and narrowly missed an upgrade to Tier 1 as the positivity rate remained above 5% for two days last week, said City Commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma. Therefore, the current relaxations will apply next week to Thane as well. All vaccination centers in Kalyan-Dombivli will remain closed for two days on June 12 and 13 due to the forecast of heavy rains.Read less
