Mystery of sunken Jeep unveils at Manistee River

Brothers Carl and Robert Skipski waited and watched divers search the Manistee River on Monday where a sunken Jeep was found. The Skipski’s hope that the vehicle will relinquish the body of their brother, Frank, who went missing in 1973. A large crowd gathered at the site to watch the event which continues today when divers and teams Rescue workers return to the area to lift the Jeep out of the water.

Pizza Hut became the first four-game winner in any softball division last night when they earned a 6-2 victory over Seng in Blue Division action. With the win, Pizza Hut moved up to a perfect 4-0 record with Civic Club / VFW who also won their closest competition last night with a 2-1 record.

Migrant workers from the ministry arrive
Migrant Ministry workers have arrived and remain at the Herbert Cooley Home. These workers, who will carry out religious and recreational work throughout the country, are Miss Cecelia Sonchez of Ithaca and Janet Conat of Jackson, and a Cuban man who is a student at Asbury College, Leo Frade.

Set of state soldier uniforms
The Michigan State Troopers, Company 402, will be dressed in blue-gray uniforms, the color scheme adopted at the request of the War Department in place of the previously planned forest green. Each member of the city’s state troops will receive tailored pants, an overseas cap, a khaki shirt, and a black silk tie.
Comedy show
The Billroy comedians, bringing together a troupe of 80, including many charming choristers and 15 featured vaudeville acts, arrive at Manistee on Monday. The Comedians of Billroy, a famous name in theatrical attraction tour history over the past 17 years, presents a searing musical extravaganza, delivering a dazzling, sparkling music, mirth and dazzling spectacle with the most beautiful girl magnificent. This gala attraction will present a two-hour performance in its large tented theater, which will be located on the River Street performance grounds.
