NJ TV star Dr Oz launches Palestinian Authority campaign to become US Senator
TV star-turned heart surgeon Dr Mehmet Oz has announced he will throw his hat in the race for the Pennsylvania US Senate.
“We are angry with our government and each other,” the famous doctor, longtime Bergen County resident, said in an opinion piece for the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.
âWe did not manage our crises as effectively as previous generations. During the pandemic, I learned that when you mix politics and medicine, you get politics instead of solutions. This is why I am running for the United States Senate: to help solve problems and to help us heal. “
Oz and his wife have lived in Cliffside Park for over 20 years, where they raised their four children.
The announcement was noted on Twitter by U.S. Democratic Representative Bill Pascrell, -D-NJ, who ironically pointed to Oz’s recent jump across the Delaware River.
âI want to congratulate my North Jersey constituent, Dr Oz, on his candidacy for the US Senate in Pennsylvania. I am sure this fully genuine candidacy will capture the hearts of Pennsylvanians,â Pascrell tweeted Tuesday.
Almost a year ago, Oz switched to voting in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, at his in-laws’ residence, as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer.
A few months earlier, Republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey announced in October 2020 that he would step down from Congress at the end of 2022.
“We must confront those who want to change the very soul of America and reimagine it with their toxic ideology. We must fight for the sake of our descendants,” Oz also said in his written campaign ad.
“We have groped the baton we’re supposed to pass on to our children. And I want to take that baton and start running towards our bright future.”
Oz received a MD and MBA from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Wharton Business School in the mid-1980s, before gaining fame as a health expert for “The Oprah Winfrey Show. “.
He went on to star in his own spin-off, “The Dr. Oz Show”, winning nine Daytime Emmy Awards.
Oz was also an attending physician at New York Presbyterian – Columbia Medical Center and was a member of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition.
