Player with 63 career PL goals on Arsenal and Aston Villa radar rips contract
Could Alexis Sanchez return to the Premier League? The striker is on Arsenal and Aston Villa’s transfer radar this summer and he has apparently made an interesting call at Inter Milan.
Sky Sports report that Sanchez has decided to tear up his Inter contract and as a result he can become a free agent, which opens the door for Arsenal and Villa to possibly sign him.
It was reported over a month ago that Arsenal were considering a possible shock return for Sanchez, alongside Premier League rivals Aston Villa – Sanchez left the Emirates in 2018 to join Manchester United in a deal exchange involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
It was one of the worst deals in Premier League history and Arsenal fans might not forgive the player.
COULD SANCHEZ RETURN TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE?
During Sanchez’s time in the English top flight, he scored 63 Premier League goals, including two FA Cup wins, including one in a final against Villa.
Mikel Arteta could need more depth in his forward line as they push for a Champions League return, added to the fact that they are back in Europe.
But would it be wise for North London to move on for an aging player who would likely eat up a good chunk of his salary? Probably not.
In the Midlands, Villa fans are wondering if they need more firepower ahead of the new Premier League season.
Steven Gerrard is looking for that know-how to push Villa down that European line next season, as well as possibly win a trophy.
Sanchez has that in the locker, but in truth, he’s probably not the answer to their problems and they’re better off looking elsewhere.
Either way, when the Chile international officially becomes a free agent, it will be interesting to see which direction he goes as he may want a taste of the Premier League for one last time.
