Spurs are now preparing to head to Villa target with 269 Premier League appearances

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Southampton maestro James Ward-Prowse.
What is the story?
Well, Aston Villa chased the England international to 8 caps for much of the summer, and Spurs have now joined them.
Athletic believe Dean Smith’s side made an offer of £ 25million for Ward-Prowse, an offer which was rejected by Southampton.

Now Tottenham are planning a move, according to The Telegraph, as are the Villans who don’t seem to take no for an answer.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to have wanted Ward-Prowse during his time in N17, and the 26-year-old remains highly rated at Tottenham.
In the case of Aston Villa, No.8 Southampton are Smith’s No.1 target to bolster their midfield.
James Ward-Prowse would be a fantastic signing
There’s a reason Tottenham and Aston Villa are fighting over Ward-Prowse.
Injury is very common in modern play, so Ward-Prowse’s availability makes it a very attractive option.
He appeared in all 38 Premier League games last season, while his attacking performance was exceptional for a midfielder.
Ward-Prowse – who has made 269 Premier League appearances in total – has scored eight goals, while also providing seven assists.
At 26, he’s also on the cusp of his prime years, so Spurs and Villa are stepping in at the right time – he’s a local player too.
Southampton would be crazy to sell him, but if anyone lands Ward-Prowse this summer, it will be a fantastic signing in every way.
