Statement confirms Aston Villa’s stance after Everton make £10m move

Cazoo will continue to sponsor Aston Villa after their deal with Everton ends.
Everton have broken their agreement with Cazoo to sponsor their shirts, with the change coming at the end of the season.
Cazoo, an online car retailer with a physical dealership on Birmingham’s Tyburn Road, has become Villa’s shirt sponsor alongside Everton’s in 2020.
Buying used cars online was a booming industry due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and it was confirmed at the time that Villa’s deal with Cazoo would be “multi-year”.
As things stand, Villa are set to enter a third year with Cazoo as club sponsors at the start of next season, but Everton have exercised an option in their deal with the company to end the deal.
“We can confirm that Cazoo’s sponsorship of Everton Football Club will not continue beyond the end of the current season,” Cazoo told The Athletic in a statement.
“The original deal was for two years and it has been a strong partnership over this period which has delivered on our objectives and we are proud to have supported the Club and raised over £75,000 for Everton in the community during this period. .
“We have not been able to agree suitable terms to extend our sponsorship of Everton beyond the initial two years, but we can confirm that we will remain the primary partner and shirt sponsor of Aston Villa Football Club. next season.”
Cazoo’s deal with Everton is reported to be worth around £10million a year alongside Frank Lampard.
Villa were sponsored by Chinese gaming company W88 in their first season in the Premier League, but switched to Cazoo in 2020.
This means that Cazoo will be on the front of the 2022-23 shirt, for which a manufacturer change is expected from current kit makers Kappa.
