The IKEA shopper’s clever hack to give you a “free dinner” every time you buy something
An IKEA customer discovered that she could get a “free lunch” at checkout.
The savvy buyer wasted no time in sharing the news of this incredible hack. After enjoying a meal at the restaurant, she spotted the QR code on their receipt, allowing them to get their food price on all products purchased from the store.
Essentially, using this, shoppers can grab a free meal by removing the cost of the meal from the overall bill, reports Edinburgh Live. The customer posted the hack to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, writing: “IKEA hack! in the store!

“Basically a free dinner if you had to buy something there anyway! This worked for me on 04/05/22 in Edinburgh.”
They then offered an update with more information: “The offer is available at all IKEA stores in the UK, except IKEA Warrington, and Aberdeen order and collection points , Birmingham, Norwich and Westfield Stratford City.
“It can be redeemed for any home furnishing purchase, but not for purchases in the online store, Swedish Food Market, gift cards, Bistro or services such as home delivery.
“The offer is per purchase, so meals must all be purchased on the same receipt. It is only available midweek, and to get the QR code receipt, you must eat after 4:30 p.m. and you have until April 14 to claim your meal.
Within a short time, the post had attracted over 1,000 likes and over 1,800 comments, mostly from shoppers who were unaware of the offer.
One said, “It’s new to me. But I’ll use it in the future.”
“Didn’t realize that…don’t go there often but good to know,” a second shared.
A third wrote: ‘Seriously? I had no idea’
Another exclaimed, “Free meatballs!”
“Wow thanks for that,” said a fifth.
A happy customer revealed: ‘Yes we did and got £10.10 off’
Another Facebook user wasn’t too keen on a free IKEA meal, commenting: “I wouldn’t care because I ate there a few weeks ago and it was the worst meal that I have ever eaten”.
