These are New England’s favorite road trip snacks
Don’t you like it when random surveys come out, either aligning or drastically distancing yourself with the other members of your state?
Well, a 2022 survey of the best road trip snacks has been officially released. The data comes from an Enhanced Points article that looked at Google Trends data from the last five years for every snack in every state to determine the clear winners for the most popular travel snack in every state, region and country. ‘together.
Let the debate begin.
Let’s start with the Granite State: New Hampshire. I would have guessed something like beef jerky. I was not surprised to learn that it was actually sunflower seeds. A kind of seizures… I spit out seeds.
Now Vermont. What would be New Hampshire’s upside-down twin? My first guess was the granola. Nope. Okay, ice cream? At Ben and Jerry’s? Nope! Just like its neighbour: sunflower seeds.
Going north to “Vacationland,” Maine should be some kind of seafood snack. Which seafood is a “round-trip snack?” Swedish fish? Negative!
According to Google Trends, according to the report, rice cakes got the number one spot in the state of Maine.
Rhode Island also had rice cakes in mind.
Sticking with the New England theme, Massachusetts shocked me. I didn’t really know what to expect. I guess when I think of “road snack” I immediately think of crisps, trail mix and sweets for my lady!
Massachusetts residents, as well as New Yorkers, actually crave hummus.
Weird road trip snack if you ask me, but depending on what you dunk it with, way to healthy NY and MA.
Connecticut was the oddball for the New England states; however, if you ask me, their snack makes the most sense. Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming all chose the #1 snack: potato chips.
Outside of New England, Combos had a huge hold in the south (leading in seven states); where Flaming Hot Cheetos held California and Oregon.
Other notable mentions are Sour Patch Kids being mixed across the US, Popcorn and Pork Rinds.
Again, this data comes from Google Trends – not my personal opinion. I’m curious though…what’s your favorite snack for your road trip?
Do you agree with the “top” choices?
