Tom Heaton discusses the unfortunate goal against his Old Trafford side ahead of Aston Villa game on September 25, 2021
The goalkeeper joined the club in the summer of 2019 and was the first choice at Villa Park when he arrived, until an unfortunate long-term knee injury caused him to miss nearly a year of football and ultimately affected his stay in the Midlands, before his change. to United on a free transfer in July.
“It was really good [being at Villa]. I went there and really enjoyed this first half of the season. I played every minute but unfortunately part of the football you have to embrace is the injuries, ”he recalls in Saturday’s United Review.
“It was a nasty blow and it took me a long time to get back to normal. At the same time, with some time, I was able to strengthen everything.
“I made sure to give him enough time and was back in shape for the last three or four months of last season. I made sure to put in the work and then the opportunity [to join United] has come.
“Like I said, I look back with great memories and really enjoyed playing for the team. It’s a great football club and I’m very proud to play for them. I’m delighted to be here now and take on this challenge as well.
