Tottenham join pursuit of £ 30million midfielder on Aston Villa radar

Aston Villa target Weston McKennie has been linked with a transfer from Juventus to Tottenham Hotspur in the dying days of the summer transfer window.
A report from Italian media Tuttosport claims Tottenham will offer Tanguy Ndombele for midfielder McKennie as the former wants to leave Spurs and has yet to appear for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season.
Italian giants Juventus have “evaluated” offers for the US international, according to reports in Italy.
The 21-year-old could leave Turin before the August 31 transfer window deadline and was heavily linked with Premier League clubs including Villa and Southampton last year.

The American, who Juventus bought from Schalke for £ 19million last summer, has received “more than one offer from abroad”, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The report adds that Juventus do not consider McKennie “non-transferable” and after the arrival of Manuel Locatelli manager Massimiliano Allegri has a lot of depth in midfield this season.
Allegri was re-appointed as Juventus coach in May, following the sacking of Andrea Pirlo, who lasted only one season at the Allianz Stadium. The 42-year-old, who played for Juventus between 2011 and 2015, was one of the main reasons McKennie joined the Serie A squad last summer.
Although Villa has been linked with several midfielders this summer, including James Ward-Prowse, Cheick Doucoure and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, head coach Dean Smith admitted he was “comfortable” with his team with a little over a week before the transfer window.
“I still believe there are a few players who are probably going to move before the end of the month, but we are comfortable with where we are at,” he said .
“We’ve pretty much covered positions all over the pitch, and they’re a stronger team than they were last season.”
