Windass warns Villa against Pereira

Dean Windass offered some advice to Aston Villa, regarding their reported interest in West Brom’s Matheus Pereira.
What is the talk?
Former Premier League midfielder Dean Windass has claims that Dean Smith won’t want West Brom forward Matheus Pereira at Aston Villa this summer. Villa are would have considering Pereira as a potential signing and Windass doesn’t think he has the pace of work Smith demands of his players in the Premier League. He told Football Transfer Tavern:
“I knowant see that because he is not a Dean Black-smith sort of player, compared to Jack Grealish who always tracks back and Pereira does none of that.
“When you to play in the First League, you can not carry someone so I do not thought this will happen.”
Should Villa sign Pereira?
Yes
No

Earlier this year, Kevin Campbell mentionned that Pereira had been “disappointing” for West Brom in the Premier League. He told Football Insider:
âI think the football club expected Pereira to have a hell of a season because he took the league by storm. They thought they had a winner in him because he can score and create goals.
âLet’s be honest, it was pretty disappointing. You need your best players to step up, especially at the top of the pitch and we haven’t seen him do that.
Smith would hate that
NSWE must avoid making a mistake by opting out of a deal for Pereira this summer. Looking at his stats from an offensive perspective, it’s clear to see why the clubs would be interested in him. Pereira recorded 11 goals and 6 assists in a struggling West Brom side at the bottom of the table, suggesting he has the ability to play at Premier League level.
However, there are two sides to the game and Pereira’s defensive numbers are disappointing. As Windass explained, Pereira isn’t committing to the defensive side of his responsibilities and that’s something Smith won’t allow his players to avoid next season.
Pereira on average 0.8 tackles and 0.9 steals per game, while allowing opponents to dribble in front of him 1.3 times per game. This highlights the £ 39,000 per week the midfielder’s lack of effort against the ball as he didn’t want to work hard to help his team.
Villa Emi Buendia’s recent signing, on the other hand, has the attributes Smith will want from his forwards. In Norwich’s 2019/20 Premier League campaign, Buendia scored an average 2.3 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per game for the Canaries, who rose to 2.4 and 1.1 respectively in the championship season has just ended.
Jack Grealish, meanwhile, succeeded 1.2 tackles per game last season and only dribbled past an impressive 0.3 times per game.
It shows why Pereira would not fit in at Aston Villa and why NSWE must avoid bringing him to the club this summer. He doesn’t have the defensive conscience to operate effectively on Smith’s side, which is also why the Villa boss would hate having him on the wing. that would open up his full-backs to increased pressure due to a lack of protection in front of them.
AND in other news, NSWE could land Aston Villa’s next Paul Merson in an ‘extraordinary’ £ 20,000 p / w dynamoâ¦
